Overview
ZalvaTech builds AI-optimized biomaterials to transform tailings and mine-impacted water (including seepage and contact water) into cleaner water and recoverable metals. Our approach applies to both tailings’ solids and water streams, enabling selective metal recovery while stabilizing what remains to lower risk and support credible closure plans. In a world where tailings are managed as multi-decade obligations under evolving standards and financial-assurance expectations, we help operators reduce long-term water liabilities, recover value from residual metals, and move assets toward safer, compliant end-states.
Our Team
ZalvaTech was founded by Dr. Leili Abkar and is supported by a cross‑disciplinary team and advisors with deep expertise, focused on responsible, real‑world deployment to solve mine tailings and wastewater challenges. We benefit from mentorship through innovation programs (e.g., SFU’s Charles Chang Institute, Foresight Canada) and entrepreneurship hubs, and we have received letters of support from industry stakeholders; details available on request.
